One
of the benefits about being a teacher is summer vacation, I mean, hands down. I
really got to relax and enjoy my summer this time around. My very first year as
an educator, my summer was full of new teacher training's and last summer, it
was occupied by conferences and training's that I chose to go to. Before summer
vacation even started, I looked for opportunities and conferences that I can
attend, but it was too late to enroll or I already went to that same training
last year. That being said, I had the entire summer to recharge and just do
nothing, it was fantastic. Today is my last day of summer vacation, due to my
department retreat being tomorrow and next week is filled with the good type of
craziness at my school site. This is all making me feel a teeny bit anxious,
nervous and excited to start the 2015-2016 school year, but mostly, it's making
me a little sad because I will miss my summer days. I made up a list of the
things I will miss the most:
1.
SLEEPING IN, one of my favorite things to do.
2.
Nights of watching my endless list of movies and TV shows.
3.
Driving to Los Banos to spend time with my family because I can and my schedule
allows it.
4.
Spending time with my fur babies at any time of the day.
5.
Taking an afternoon nap with Dexter by my side, I really practiced the term
"cat nap" this summer.
6.
Visiting my husband during his lunch hour because I can.
7.
Enjoying reading books that I selected.
8.
Traveling and having new adventures.
9.
Running errands and completing them before 12pm.
10.
Starting a board game with Kevin at 11 o'clock at night on a weekday because I
don't have to wake up early the next morning (although this didn't happen often
because Kevin started his career at the beginning of the summer! Yay!).
11.
Having girl's night on a weekday (it worked out since we all happen to be educators;
I'm talking about you, Jasmine and Kelly).
12.
Time. Just having the time to do and enjoy life.
Now,
here's another list I compiled of things that I am looking forward to:
1.
Seeing my student’s faces, both old and new.
2.
Working with the teachers I work with, did I tell you how awesome they all are.
3.
Waking up early and smelling the aroma of coffee around the house.
4.
Going back to a busy and hectic routine.
5.
Celebrating all of the holidays.
6.
My favorite season of all, fall.
7.
All my favorite shows are on (Once Upon a Time, eeeek! Can September come any
quicker?).
8.
Anything else Life has happening for us.
Summer
of 2015, you were great to my family and I. I'll see you next year! I hope your
summers were filled with fun adventures or plain nothingness could be just as
great too. I love them both. Stay cool!
